Owning a computer and accessing the Internet are getting easier for many low-income Lexingtonians.

A new program is refurbishing hundreds of used computers donated by area businesses, then providing the Internet-ready machines and a training class to the needy for $300.

About 250 people have received computers since the Outreach Computer Resources program started in Lexington in the spring, and 300 more are on a waiting list. Classes, sponsored by the McConnell Technology and Training
