March 2001

MTTC / Navy Fleet Maintenance Projects-

Current Status (03/01/01)

Remote Valve Actuators. The testing period for the Limitorque models MX-5 and MX-10 on the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CNV-71) has been extended to 31 March 2001, at the request of the Navy. To date, the valves have cycled over 250 times in fleet operations. The Navy operators have been very positive about the valves' performance.

ECOTherm High Temperature Insulation. Test sections were installed on the USS BOXER in April 2000. The MTTC contractor, BBN, Inc., and NAVSEA conducted an interim inspection of the BOXER installation in September 2000. A final analysis will be conducted early in 2001 and the test sections will be restored to their original configuration prior to the ship's deployment.

Distiller Anti-Scale. NAVSSES has proposed a 2-year project which would require funding that extends into FY02. MTTC will award a contract when FY00 funding becomes available. SSES and NAVSEA have provided all required documentation.

Anti Sweat Paint. NAVSEA, MTTC and GeoCenters have agreed on a statement of work and a work order has been issued to GeoCenters.

Boat Davit Improvements. MTTC and NAVSSES Philadelphia have signed a contract to commence this project.

Vertical Package Conveyers. NAVSSES Philadelphia and NAVSEA are currently developing the documentation required to proceed with this project.

Composite Connectors. Glenair, Inc., has produced and delivered four harness assemblies to MTTC. The MTTC has provided these to the Navy who, in return has forwarded them to Litecom, Inc. for installation of the Navy SBIR produced connectors. The completed assemblies will be tested at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Louisville site, prior to at-sea testing.
