Problem: Firezone and Joiner Doors do not have adequate specifications and components such as closures and hinges require constant maintenance.

Solution: MTTC, in conjunction with the Navy and industry, will analyze both military and commercial specifications and standards to identify potential product insertions. If required, testing will be conducted to confirm operational suitability.

Fleet Impact: By specifying system requirements and identifying compliant components, ship interior door maintenance will be substantially reduced.

Status: Ongoing

NSWC/Philadelphia has completed a preliminary acceptability criteria and goals document for the doors and components. After NAVSEA concurrence, MTTC will conduct a market survey to determine the availability of commercial products that meet those requirements.
