Scullery Dishwasher l

Problem: The reliability of the shipboard dishwashers is the #4 ranked fleet problem since 1995. Various parts corrode and fail repeatedly due to the high temperature and caustic materials  present. The current water level indicator is one of the most pressing problems.

Solution: Operationally test a number of commercially available water level indicators. Replace the current unit if a suitable substitute can be verified.

Minimum 15 Year:       $17,850K

Fleet Impact: This would provide a very good start to fixing the problems with the dishwasher. There would be fewer instances of eating off of disposable plates with associated quality-of-life improvement. Reduce maintenance and waste disposal and odor problems.

Status: Ongoing

MTTC continues to  provide technical assistance to NAVSEA Philadelphia by employing former General Electric Appliance engineers to analyze the current  problems and provide recommendations.

A contract has been awarded to NAVSEA/Philadelphia and analysis of potential solutions has commenced.
