Server+ Foundations Industry Standard Server Architecture (ISSA) Installation & Support

Course Description
This course focuses on the industry standard concepts and practical techniques related to basic and advanced server architecture, maintenance, support, and disaster recovery.  Students actively participate in a detailed exploration of server hardware diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair.  The course curriculum provides a foundation for advancing students who are pursuing the CompTIA Server+ certification.

This course is for anyone interested in industry standard server architecture, installation and support. A typical candidate would have the CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge and some network experience.  This course will hold much value for PC technicians, help desk technicians, network support technicians, field support technicians, and any others interested in advancing their IT careers to a higher level in pursuit of Server+ certification.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe different types of servers, and identify hardware and software components used in servers
  • Install servers into a network environment
  • Configure servers for optimal performance
  • Employ preventive maintenance measures to keep servers running at acceptable performance levels
  • Upgrade server hardware and software
  • Utilize forensic software tools for data recovery
  • List environmental issues pertaining to server operation
  • Troubleshoot problems with server hardware & software
  • Identify/explain disaster-recovery concepts & techniques
  • Use a variety of network hacking tools and know how to defend against those tools
  • Effectively combat internal and external hackers, attacks, and security threats

Prerequisites
To attend this course, students should possess the knowledge and/or experience level equivalent to the A+ certification requirements and have additional network training or experience.  If a candidate does not meet this prerequisite, MTTC’s A+ Computer Repair and Network Fundamentals courses are highly recommended.  A Network+ certification would be helpful.

  • Remote connectivity & troubleshooting
  • Firewalls, policies and procedures
