CVN Hangar Doors
The prototype door controller was installed on USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) Door #4 in October 2008. It will remain onboard throughout the ship's next deployment to evaluate its performance. It has been assigned as SCD 2773. This project was done jointly with PMS 312 as part of the "Smart Carrier" program. The Hangar Division Doors, which use most of the same hardware except the drives, will be forthcoming after an SCD number is assigned. IPI/MTTC did not directly fund the Division Doors but they are being leveraged off of our project.

Infrared Boiler Monitoring
The Navy has obtained the IR Temperature Probe and will be installing it on USS Peleliu (LHA-5) in June 2009. This is part of a much wider Navy effort to produce fuel savings by 2-3%. The tests will be run for at least six months. It should be noted that there are other temperature probe models also being evaluated.

Lube/Hydraulic Oil Polisher
Shipboard and laboratory testing has been completed on the Lube Oil Polisher. There were issues during shipboard testing regarding data recording and sample production. Nevertheless, it has been shown that the polisher removes particulates down to 5 microns. There is ongoing discussion in the Navy regarding the requirement to achieve these levels and the value of it. There are also other types of soot removal systems available that may be applicable. Lab testing of the submarine portable hydraulic oil polisher should be completed in the near future.

Structural Hull Integrity and Availability
The Navy held a Corrosion/Structures Summit at NAVSEA on July 16-17, 2009. Major changes were made to the G1N5 and G1N6 Maintenance Cards. G1N5 was completely rewritten but this did not affect the handbook that MTTC has produced in this project. As soon as the government assigns a distribution statement and NAVSEA approves the final draft, the handbook will be printed and distributed. In the meantime, the G1N6 card was split up into interior ship spaces and topside spaces. The interior compartment card has been drafted and sent out for initial review.

Temperature Control Valve
The Ship Change Documents required to put new equipment on board ships are still going through the Navy's approval process. The valves are on hand for installation and at-sea testing -- two on the USS McCLUSKEY (FFG-41) soon, and two on an undetermined Carrier, depending upon availability.
