Management of Materials Specification (Qualification Roadmap) Status:  Ongoing

Estimated Navy Cost Avoidance: A draft web-capable roadmap has been forwarded to NAVSEA 05P23 for review and distribution determination. Problem: There are significant non-metallic materials specifications (specs) that need to be reviewed and managed. These specs are used by NAVSEA 05P24 in the process approving new materials for Navy use. Solution: NAVSEA 05P24 would like a qualification roadmap put on a public website (similar to that of the NSTC's coatings approval roadmap) so that companies wishing to qualify their products will have a place to look for guidance during the process. The roadmap will actually be developed by an engineer who has worked with the specs for many years. MTTC will identify the feasibility of managing these specs and posting/maintaining the roadmap on the MTTC website or a new public website. Fleet Impact: The use of this roadmap will lower the man-hour burden on NAVSEA engineers and allo them to focus on more important tasks. Applications: N/A Navy POC:  ,   •  Phone:
