Problem:
| Corrosion of topside electrical connectors have resulted in the development of a number of covering systems, none of which permit access and re-closure. Maintenance invariably results in damage to connectors and cables.
|
Solution:
| MTTC, working with RayChem, Inc., conducted extensive environmental and military specification testing on RayOLON, a commercially available roll-on covering. The product passed all required tests.
|
Fleet Impact:
| Sailors will be able to remove and restore equipment quickly without damaging and/or replacing cables and connectors. Connectors will be protected from the harsh maritime environment and require less maintenance. |
Applications:
- Shore Power Connection Cables
-
All Shipboard topside connectors
-
All re-enterable requirements
